Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) is an amalgam of the Japanese word for DIY / as you like (okonomi) and fry (yaki). More than a dish only, okonomiyaki is very much a social event where diners not only share the teppan (hot plate) and ingredients, but also time and space.
Whereas usually the selection of ingredients is made visually or a la carte amongst a group of diners, [Deconstructing Okonomiyaki] offers an individual and tactile menu, allowing for an intimate and personal experience where taste, texture and touch mingle.
