| Kawabegawa, the rever flows in Kumamoto Prefecture in Kyushu, Japan, is famous for its clear water and for its special fish called "Shaku-Ayu" (literary means 30cm long Sweetfish). One of the village the river flows is called "Itsuki-village", the hometown of the famous song "Ballad of the Itsuki". The village is to be sunk underwater in coming years according to the Kawabegawa Dam Plan made by Japanese Government about 35 years ago. Against the local wish, the Government collected the local fishing right from the fisherman association in December 2001.
